UK Electoral Quota

The United Kingdom electoral quota for the Sixth Review is the number obtained by dividing the total parliamentary electorate at 1 December 2010 for the United Kingdom by 596. This figure excludes the electorates of the 4 “protected constituencies” of Na h-Eileanan an Iar, Orkney Islands and Shetland Islands council areas, and the 2 Isle of Wight constituencies. In simple terms, the United Kingdom electoral quota is the average electorate of mainland constituencies. The United Kingdom electoral quota for the Review is 76,641.

The electorate of each constituency, with a few specified exceptions, has to be within 5% of the United Kingdom electoral quota - that is, an electorate no fewer than 72,810 and no more than 80,473.
